The Weight Loss Struggle
Have you ever wondered if what you know about lose weight is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on losing weight.
You've got to impress the people around you, right? It seems that the image that’s portrait in our minds is that in order to be successful, happy and attract a soul mate in life, you have to look good. Is this really true?
I think this is only partially true, however, looking fit (worthy) is really about getting in touch with your own self-worth, accessing a deeper worth that is not derived from your appearance. "How you should try to lose weight" is not the only question you should be asking yourself.
You really don't have to let go of the quest to lose weight, but at least try putting this question along side of it: "How can I find a sense of worth and fitness on the inside, no matter how my body looks?" This question is very important if you want to get a deeper understanding of who you are and how you feel.
It may be that you probably unconsciously already asked yourself such a question. As you are trying to lose weight, the above question usually lies right beneath the quest you are on. Since the question is there anyway, I am suggesting you make it even more conscious in your every day life. Make it more of a priority. Make self-acceptance just as equal in importance to weight loss. Then see what happens to your life.
I can tell you from my own experience that when you make self-acceptance the goal, along with the weight loss, you open up the door towards feeling a lot better emotionally. You will begin to realize that there are many other ways to solve this problem, aside from putting yourself on a diet and exercising more. Going for true self-worth gets you to stare the problem right in its eyes and confront the brutal facts.
It’s in that moment that you will start to uncover the fundamental issues. It is strongly advised you get the proper help if many wounds are surfacing at once. There are many great books written on the subject and there are many great resources on weight loss self-esteem, body image, and true self-acceptance that will take you in new directions for sure.
But the problem and its solution always starts with you. What I am strying to say here is that the real problem is not how to lose weight, or what you should eat. The real problem is self-judgment and self-esteem.
Remember that you will only feel bad in the eyes of others if you are looking at your self through so called judgmental eyes. When you take of your "judgmental glasses", no matter how thick they are, then you will have gotten to the root of your problem that has been there all along.
When you learn to remove self-judgment about your own body image or anything else for that matter, you’ll notice how unhelpful it is in your daily life, and I’m absolutely sure that you will find more ways to feel more self-esteem.
Is there really any information about lose weight that is nonessential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one may be crucial to another. |
